An Unbridled Tongue

Thought for Meditation

If we do not allow God the Holy Spirit to bridle our tongue
unto righteous communication and away from grievous communication
(including any and all forms of communictation),
then we deceive ourselves if we think that we possess a spiritually righteous character;
and all of our other religious service for the Lord is classified BY HIM as spiritually vain.

James 1:26
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue,
but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain
.

Luke 6:45
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good;
and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:
for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh
.

James 3:6-10
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity:
so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body,
and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea,
is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Therewith bless we God, even the Father;
and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing.
My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Ephesians 4:29-30
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,
but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption
.

Colossians 4:5-6
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt,
that ye may know how ye ought to answer every m
an.
