Bless the Lord, O My Soul – Psalm 103:1-2, 20-22

This outline is a companion to a previous outlines:  And Forget Not All His Benefits - Psalm 103:1-5    

Psalm 103:1-2 reads, “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.  Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”

Psalm 103:20-22 reads, “Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.  Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.  Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.”

  I.  We should bless the Lord our God with reverence of our whole heart.

      Psalm 103:1 – “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me . . .”

 II.  We should bless the Lord our God with regard for His all-holy character.

      Psalm 103:1 – “And all that is within me, bless his holy name.”

III.  We should bless the Lord our God with remembrance of His gracious benefits to us.

      Psalm 103:2 – “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”

IV.  We should bless the Lord our God with reflection of the angels’ and the creation’s praise.

      Psalm 103:20-22 – “Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments,
      hearkening unto the voice of his word.  Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his
      pleasure.  Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.”
