Psalm 145:1-2 – “David’s Psalm of praise. I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.”
1. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His greatness. (Psalm 145:3-6)
2. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His goodness. (Psalm 145:7-9)
3. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His gloriousness. (Psalm 145:10-13)
4. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His graciousness. (Psalm 145:14-20)
Psalm 145:21 – “My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.”

1. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His greatness. (Psalm 145:3-6)
2. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His goodness. (Psalm 145:7-9)
3. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His gloriousness. (Psalm 145:10-13)
4. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His graciousness. (Psalm 145:14-20)
Psalm 145:21 – “My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.”

1. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His greatness.
Psalm 145:3a – “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised.”
A. His greatness is infinite.
Psalm 145:3b – “And his greatness is unsearchable.”
B. His greatness is seen in His mighty works.
Psalm 145:4 – “One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.”
C. His greatness is majestic.
Psalm 145:5a – “I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty.”
D. His greatness is seen in His wondrous works.
Psalm 145:5b-6 – “And of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I
will declare thy greatness.”
2. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His goodness.
Psalm 145:7a – “They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness.”
A. He is perfectly righteous.
Psalm 145:7b – “And shall sing of thy righteousness.”
B. He is gracious and merciful.
Psalm 145:8 – “The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.”
C. His goodness and tender mercies are administered to all.
Psalm 145:9 – “The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.”
3. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His gloriousness.
Psalm 145:10 – “All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.”
A. He is glorious in His majestic sovereignty.
Psalm 145:11a – “They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom.”
Psalm 145:12b – “And the glorious majesty of his kingdom.”
B. He is glorious in His almighty power.
Psalm 145:11b-12a – “And talk of thy power; to make known to the sons of men his mighty acts.”
C. His is glorious in His eternal sovereignty.
Psalm 145:13 – “Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all
generations.”
4. The Lord is to be praised greatly for His graciousness.
A. He helps the down trodden.
Psalm 145:14 – “The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.”
B. He provides food for all.
Psalm 145:15-16 – “The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou
openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.”
C. He works only in righteousness.
Psalm 145:17 – “The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.”
D. He blesses those who serve Him.
Psalm 145:18-20a – “The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. The LORD
preserveth all them that love him.”
E. He punishes those who are wicked.
Psalm 145:20b – “But all the wicked will he destroy.”
Psalm 145:21 – “My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.”
