Outlines in Psalms

“Praise ye the LORD.”

 I.  Let the Saints Praise the Lord for His gracious salvation. (Psalm 149:1-4)
II.  Let the Saints Praise the Lord for His victorious empowerment. (Psalm 149:5-9)

“Praise ye the LORD.”

“Praise ye the LORD.”

 I.  Let the Saints Praise the Lord for His gracious salvation.

     A.  The Instruction

           1.  Psalm 149:1 – “Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.”
           2.  Psalm 149:2a – “Let Israel rejoice in him that made him.”
           3.  Psalm 149:2b – “Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.”
           4.  Psalm 149:3a – “Let them praise his name in the dance.”
           5.  Psalm 149:3b – “Let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.”

     B.  The Reason

           1.  Psalm 149:4a – “For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people.”
           2.  Psalm 149:4b – “He will beautify the meek with salvation.”
           3.  Psalm 149:4b – “He will beautify the meek with salvation.”

II.  Let the Saints Praise the Lord for His victorious empowerment.

     A.  The Instruction

           1.  Psalm 149:5a – “Let the saints be joyful in glory.”
           2.  Psalm 149:5b – “Let them sing aloud upon their beds.”
           3.  Psalm 149:6a – “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth.”
           4.  Psalm 149:6b – “And a twoedged sword in their hand.”

     B.  The Privilege

           1.  Psalm 149:7 – “To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people.”
           2.  Psalm 149:8 – “To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron.”
           3.  Psalm 149:9 – “To execute upon them the judgment written.”

     “This honour have all his saints.”

“Praise ye the LORD.”
