“Praise ye the LORD.”

 I.  Praise the LORD from the heavens. (Psalm 148:1-6)
II.  Praise the LORD from the earth. (Psalm 148:7-14)

“Praise ye the LORD.”

“Praise ye the LORD.”

  I.  Praise the LORD from the heavens.

     Psalm 148:1 – “Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights.”

     A.  Who should praise the Lord?

          Psalm 148:2-4 – “Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.  Praise ye him, sun and moon:
          praise him, all ye stars of light.  Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the
          heavens.”

          1.  All His angelic hosts.
          2.  The sun and moon.
          3.  All the starry hosts.
          4.  The heaven of heavens.
          5.  The waters above the heavens.

     B.  Why should they praise the Lord?

          Psalm 148:5-6 – “Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.  He
          hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.”

          1.  Because He created them by His command.
          2.  Because He preserves them by His decree.

II.  Praise the LORD from the earth.

     Psalm 148:7a – “Praise the LORD from the earth.”

     A.  Who should praise the Lord?

          Psalm 148:7-12 – “Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps: fire, and hail; snow, and
          vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word: mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: beasts, and all
          cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl: kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the
          earth: both young men, and maidens; old men, and children.”

          1.  Dragons and all that dwells in the watery deeps.
          2.  Fire (lightning), hail, snow, vapour, stormy wind “fulfilling his word.”
          3.  Mountains and all hills of the earth.
          4.  Fruitful trees and all cedars and trees of the earth.
          5.  Creeping things and flying animals of the skies.
          6.  Kings of the earth and all common people of the earth.
          7.  Princes and all judges of the earth.
          8.  Both young men and maidens, old men and children.

     B.  Why should they praise the Lord?

          Psalm 148:13-14 – “Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is
          above the earth and heaven.  He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of
          the children of Israel, a people near unto him.”

          1.  Because His glorious name alone is excellent above all.
          2.  Because He exalteth the position and praise of His saints.

“Praise ye the LORD.”
