1. Because the Lord is gracious. (Psalm 147:2-3)
A. He restores His people – “The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of
Israel.”
B. He heals the broken-hearted – “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”
2. Because the Lord is great. (Psalm 147:4-5)
A. He is great in power – “He telleth the number of the stars . . . . Great is our Lord, and of great power.”
B. He is great in understanding – “He calleth them [the stars] all by their names . . . . His understanding is
infinite.”
3. Because the Lord is good. (Psalm 147:6)
A. He lifts up the meek – “The LORD lifteth up the meek.”
B. He judges the wicked – “He casteth the wicked down to the ground.”

4. Because the Lord provides. (Psalm 147:8-9)
“Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the
mountains. He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.”
5. Because the Lord shows favor. (Psalm 147:10-11)
“He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh
pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.”
“Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.”
6. Because the Lord blesses His people. (Psalm 147:13-14)
A. With strength – “For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.”
B. With peace – “He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.”
7. Because the Lord reveals His Word. (Psalm 147:15-20)
A. In power – “He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly. He giveth snow
like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes. He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand
before his cold? He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters
flow.”
B. For guidance – “He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. He hath not
dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them.”
“Praise ye the LORD.”
