The Truly Superior Way

Thought for Meditation

The intellectual way is not superior over the emotional way,
nor is the emotional way superior over the intellectual way.
In fact, both the intellectual way and the emotional way
can equally lead us astray into an unrighteous way.
Rather, the truly superior way is always the Biblical way,
regardless of what our intellect may think or of what our emotions may feel.

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart [both intellectually and emotionally] is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Romans 7:18a
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing:
for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not
.

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart
.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works
.

Psalm 19:7-11
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever:
the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward
.

Amen.

In responding to the emotionalism of the charismatic movement, we've drifted into intellectualism.

Neither are sound.
